Go to the 2:30 mark above for the question he asks regarding her team.
“Censorship and collusion makes the interview with Britney absurd.
On his meeting with popstar Britney Spears LONDON. “What do you hope the future will bring?” It is one of the questions I was forbidden to ask Britney Spears. Singer’s management requires strict control over everything she says for the upcoming European tour. Censored questions and secret agreements on how the material handled is required to get an interview at all.
“Hit me baby one more time!” I just want to scream it at her. Get some sort of reaction. Britney Spears is one and a half feet away, but it might as well be across the Atlantic.
Britney’s eyes are absent and the recently released pictures of the English glossy women’s magazine Glamour is clearly heavily retouched.
The singer is still incapacitated, and father James is in charge. How he and the manager and boyfriend Jason Trawick may have agreed to allow her to do television interviews I do not understand. In a filmed interview, it is of course clear that she did not want to be here. The bright eyes that are constantly seeking the approval somewhere behind me with one of all advisors are more visible in a TV camera than anywhere else. But it’s not my choice.
On the other hand, her PR people, even before the so-called interview, have done everything possible to destroy all possibility of journalistic work. They have deleted half of my questions that I had to send in advance. I could not ask about her cooperation with Swedish songwriters, I could not ask about Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez, Britney’s successors in the Disney industry, I could not ask about Chris Cockers world famous “Leave Britney Alone” clip, and they had even deleted the question “What do you hope the future will bring?”.
I have also been forced to accept a secret agreement on how the interview is handled. The details will not be revealed, but I had to ask Aftonbladet’s highest managers if we could possibly go along with the more than peculiar requirements about how the TV interview, cut and otherwise used. After several trips we decided to say yes. The reason is simple, Britney is one of the world’s most famous artists, an icon of Swedish journalists rarely have the opportunity to interview.
The tour, which is on its way to Sweden in October, has been hailed in the U.S. and I have no doubt that Britney Spears loves to be on stage and she really gives the audience what they want. But now that I have interviewed her – one of the greatest pop icons, just as famous for her collapsed private life, as her hits and millions and millions of records sold. I still can not say that I truly met her. They promised 15 minutes, but the interview was shortened to 8 minutes and 44 seconds.
The only thing I wonder, during our brief encounter is how she feels, why she looks so uncomfortable during the interview and if she is as she sang back in 2001 feel “over protected” by everyone around. When I try to get answers to those questions, the interview abruptly ended. And I do not believe a word of her response.“
Not only does Jamie Spears make $16,000 a month acting as “conservator” for his daughter, he is also now the president of 11 companies; 6 of them being started post-conservatorship.
Not too shabby for a man who filed for bankruptcy and was just a chef a few short years back, no?
President at Britney Brands, Inc. Co-President at Brandcasting Unlimited, LLC President at Britney Films, Ltd. President at Britney Touring, Inc Co-President at Domestic Relations, LLC President at Fairy Zone Productions, Inc. President at Magnolia Publishing, Inc. President at Miss Britney Recording, Inc. President at Shiloh Standing, Inc. President at Spears Management Inc. Co-President at White Transport LLC
————————————————————————————————–
These six companies were filed as businesses with the state post conservatorship.
Jamie shares part-ownership with Andrew Wallet (co-conservator) of:
Brandcasting Unlimited – September 22, 2008 Domestic Relations – May 13, 2009 White Transport – September 14, 2009
And is sole president of:
Magnolia Publishing, Inc – January 1, 2010 Miss Britney Recording, Inc – January 1, 2010 Shiloh Standing, Inc – January 14, 2010
————————————————————————————————–
What is the co-conservator attorney Andrew Wallet’s place in co-owning newly started businesses with Jamie Spears?
Isn’t the conservatorship meant to help Britney? Where exactly are they helping her? Are they guiding her in eliminating the conservatorship & moving forward with her life, or are they content with it staying as is?
Nice to see while Britney is “mentally incompetent”, people are still prospering. A great boost for the economy!
Lou M Taylor. This name may not ring a bell to some; but her aftermath has left a lasting impression.
Lou M Taylor is the president of “Tri-Star Sports & Entertainment Group” based in Brentwood, TN. She is the spokesperson for the Spears family since 2006, and for Britney Spears since the conservatorship was put into place in 2008.
Lou says of herself, “I am a strong woman, I am a boss, I am a woman in a man’s business, I am married to a Godly man and Pastor, I am a submissive wife.”
Regarding her line of work, “I focus on making a difference in our business by operating a life management model that includes a cohesive working relationship with each member of a client’s team to ensure maximum professional support and counsel.”
How very Westboro Baptist Church of her! She really seems to have it together. Strong. Boss. Business. Godly. Submissive wife. Who WOULDN’T want this woman running their life for them?
On August 5, 2006 Lou M. Taylor, the President of Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group, began representing Jamie Lynn Spears. Jamie Lynn appeared at the time in the TV show “Zoey 101.” It is also estimated around this time that Lou M. Taylor became the “spokesperson” for Jamie & Lynn Spears as well.
Less than 2 years later, this “spokesperson” of the Spears family (sans Britney) was making her presence more well known. After Jamie Lynn announced her pregnancy in December 2007, the father Casey had a bit of time in the spotlight. When he got a call from the National Enquirer to tell his story, he remarked that he would be willing to talk to them.. for $250,000.
Lou M Taylor soon thereafter appeared on the TODAY show, giving an interview regarding the “Dr Phil” issue in early 2008, where Dr Phil saw Britney in the hospital and made public comments against the family’s wishes.
She said of the ordeal, “Everyday Jamie goes to work as a professional chef, asking the Lord to honor the people he works for in the midst of the circumstances. That Lynn Spears is a mother who is broken hearted… I’m so disturbed where we’ve gotten to be, the morbidity of watching the depravity of people suffering.”
It was supposedly around this time that Lou M Taylor had the idea of placing Britney Spears under a conservatorship.
A way to help Britney get her life back on track, right?
“Lou totally brainwashed Jamie. She convinced him a conservatorship was the only way to go and of course he went along with it when he heard about the financial control it would give him. But Lou didn’t have Jamie in mind as the conservator at the beginning. She considered suggesting Larry Rudolph but she was afraid he would abuse the power. With Jamie, Lou thought she would have someone who was naive enough that she could continue to influence him and, therefore, continue to have a direct influence on Britney’s life and career for years to come.”
After Lindsay Lohan was jailed in August 2010, Lou M Taylor posted Lindsay’s $10,000 bond through wire transfer. It was after this that Lindsay was seen with, you guessed it.. Adam Leber & Larry Rudolph, Britney’s current managers.
“Lou has suggested to Dina [Lohan] that they seek conservatorship over Lindsay’s estate. Of course Lindsay doesn’t really have any assets to speak of so it would really be for the sole purpose of controlling her future earnings. The problem is, neither Dina nor Michael would ever be granted a conservatorship by a judge so Lou went searching for someone else to fill that role — someone with whom she could partner in a business sense, someone she trusts. This time she thinks Larry Rudolph may be the answer. Lou now realizes choosing Brit’s dad as conservator may not have been the best idea. He got power hungry and decided he didn’t need Lou anymore. So this time, Lou thinks Larry might be willing to work her way on this and be a figurehead in Lindsay’s career while Lou works behind-the-scenes.”
“Lou and Dina are trying to throw Lindsay in a rehab right now and get her out of the picture so they can get a conservatorship without her knowing,” Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s father, told RadarOnline.com.
“They would control literally everything Lindsay does, what projects she has coming up, her finances and the people she sees-and that includes keeping me out of her life.”
“I hope Lindsay hears this and realizes what they’re trying to do.”
“A lot of the controversy in Lindsay’s life wouldn’t be there if Lou Taylor and Larry Rudolph weren’t part of the equation.”
“They are both one-hit wonders with Britney Spears, and they are not going to do the same to my daughter.”
Larry Rudolph! Isn’t that her current manager that she previously fired 2 times before and was only rehired once the conservatorship was put into place?
Flashback to 2004: “Britney Spears has dumped her manager so she can control her career… Trouble has been brewing since Britney’s wildchild period last year. Larry was terrified of the effect her partying would have on her squeaky clean image.”
The same squeaky clean image she has now thanks to pre-scripted interviews and a great team of handlers?
“It’s amazing what advisors will push you to do, even if it means taking a naive young blonde girl and putting her on the cover of every magazine,” Britney posted on her website in October 2004.
So what is Lou M Taylor up to these days? She seems to have it all. A Godly pastor husband, her own management company, and a client list one would only dream of!
Well it turns out.. Lou M Taylor is being sued by Brand Sense, the same company suing Jamie Spears & Britney Spears Inc over breach of contract.
The same woman who supposedly masterminded the conservatorship alongside Jamie Spears is also being sued for fraud along with him involving Britney’s money? What a coincidence!
In the complaint filed by Brand Sense over the breach of contract by Jamie Spears, Lou Taylor is also listed as a defendant. The complaint reads of Lou Taylor:
“Defendants ‘Tri-Star Sports & Entertainment Group, Inc.’ (Tri-Star) and its principal, Lou M Taylor, who are referred to as representatives of Britney in the January 1, 2010 Elizabeth Arden agreement, knew of the existence of the contracts between Brand Sense and Britney, and intentionally acted to interfere with & disrupt those agreements. They induced Defendants into entering into the “new” Elizabeth Arden agreement, thereby causing Defendants to breach their contractual obligations to Brand Sense.
By their ‘new’ agreement, Defendants circumvented and repudiated the very agreement they had affirmed and represented to Brand Sense to be in effect. Defendants’ scheme was to induce Brand Sense to step out of the accounting/payment process, so they could covertly enter into, and get paid under, a ‘new’ agreement with Elizabeth Arden; and Brand Sense would not know the difference.”
Busted.
Britney also thanks Lou M Taylor in her Femme Fatale booklet.
“Professional thank yous go out to Ken Hertz, Seth Lichtenstein and Tom Hansen for making sure everything is legal and to Lou Taylor, Robin Greenhill and Tri Star for counting my pennies.”
As the word spreads of Britney Spears’ conservatorship and the lawsuit involving it from Brand Sense, more & more media outlets are questioning it’s status. The question here being: If Britney can endure a months-long tour, release albums, meet fans, promote her brand, & give interviews.. why is she not “competent” to testify in a case involving HER brand? She is the beneficiary of Britney Spears Inc after all.
But here’s the catch, Jamie Spears (conservator) is in control of her finances. Brand Sense claims that in early 2010, the company was cut off from their 35% commission. This would place the blame solely on Jamie Spears, as Britney has had no control over her finances since early 2008.
Why then are they asking Britney to be deposed? Perhaps they want more answers questioned than we think.
“As Britney Spears nears her 30th birthday in a few months, she is in the midst of a world tour, has a successful new album, and tells Glamour Magazine that she is happy and “in a really good place right now.” There’s even talk of her regaining at least partial custody of her children. Quite a turnaround from the public lows she hit just three years ago! And who does she thank for it? Her father, James Spears.
In fact, according to a friend of hers, Britney Spears credits her father for saving her life. How did he do it when she was so close to the edge — bald head and all — just a few short years ago?
James Spears has been Britney’s conservator since 2008. This means he was appointed by a judge to make all of Britney’s legal decisions, financial and otherwise, since that time.
Most people who are familiar with conservators (or guardians, as they are called in many states) think of them as being used for elderly people who are no longer competent. Indeed, the large majority of adult guardianships and conservatorships in our country are for senior citizens with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, or those with lifelong developmental conditions or a serious brain injury. Britney falls into none of those categories, and she seems to be functioning well in life now, so why does she still have a conservator, overseen by a court of law?
That’s exactly the question that a company called Brand Sense wants to know. It sued Britney Spears and her father earlier this year because it claimed that it was shut out of $10 million in profits. Brand Sense says that it brokered the deal between Britney and Elizabeth Arden for her successful perfume line. In the lawsuit, the company has tried to take a deposition of Britney, during which its lawyers would question her under oath. But Britney’s father and their lawyers prevented the deposition from happening, because of the conservatorship.
In other words, team Spears convinced the judge that Britney was not mentally competent to sit through the questioning. Brand Sense thinks that this is nonsense because Britney is able to perform in concert, do media interviews and parent her children. Surely, she can answer a few questions, the company’s lawyers argued.
The judge disagreed. So then Brand Sense tried to obtain Britney’s medical records to see if she really was mentally competent, or if she was hiding behind the conservatorship to avoid the deposition. Again, the judge ruled against them and Britney’s medical records are staying private.
Not a bad deal for Britney, right? She gets to sing in concert, sell lots of albums and perfume, spend time with her kids, and not have to worry about things like lawsuits and depositions.
The problem is that she has no say over anything important in her life. She can’t decide where to live, whether to have surgery, how to spend her money, or even, get married. That’s right, even though she’s been dating her boyfriend for years, and he wants to marry her, she cannot get married or make any other decisions of consequence without her father’s permission.
According to Radaronline, Jason Trawick, her current boyfriend and former agent, doesn’t want to officially ask until the time is right, meaning after the conservatorship ends. Her father is said to be considering stepping aside as conservator, but not until early 2012, when her w0rld concert tour is over and she’s back in safe and familiar surroundings.
Does this all make sense? Should someone who is not suffering from dementia, a development disability, or a brain injury, really need the protection of a conservatorship and have all of her life decisions taken away from her?
If you ask Britney, it did save her life. So the answer seems to be yes, in her case.
But, it’s a dangerous path. There are countless examples of abuse in the guardianship and conservatorship system. While there are many instances where lives are saved, there are also those times that people are taken advantage of. And it even happens to those who can be helped by far less restrictive means than a court-ordered conservator or guardian taking over their lives.
The law does not make it easy for someone to obtain guardianship or conservatorship, unless the person they are trying to help really needs it, because doing so takes away so many legal rights of the protected person. Just because someone makes bad, or even unsafe decisions, does not mean that they qualify for having a court-ordered guardian or conservator. If they did, then every drug-addict and alcoholic in the country would need one.
Rather, these types of court proceedings are typically used for those who have a mental defect, caused by age, injury, or disability, not those who make bad choices.
Very few people would want to have court oversight and be unable to make decisions without getting someone else’s permission. That’s a big reason why proper legal planning is so important.
In fact, for most people, the very same protections can usually be achieved without any court proceeding, through the use of good power of attorney documents for medical and financial decisions. They are a basic, yet essential, part of any comprehensive estate plan. But many people don’t stop and think about needing legal documents to protect themselves in case they become disabled or incompetent.
That’s what power of attorney documents do — they enable you to choose someone, without a court proceeding, to act like a guardian or conservator and make your decisions if you are in a car accident, suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, or otherwise become physically or mentally unable to protect yourself. If you, your loved ones or your clients don’t already have up-to-date power of attorney documents in place, then it’s critical to do so right away.
Certainly there are times — as with Britney Spears — that powers of attorney aren’t enough to help. But those instances are the exceptions, not the rule. Every adult 18 years and older should have proper power of attorney documents, just in case.“
Last week I was in Chicago attending a board meeting.
After a board dinner, I left the restaurant and traveled back to my hotel with a business associate.
We got out of the car and we talked for a few moments before I headed into the hotel; and he walked to his apartment a few blocks away. While we were chatting; an SUV pulled up and a woman; an older woman and 3 burly men got out of the SUV and walked past us. I glanced over and said to my associate, “I think that was Britney Spears”.
He said “No way! wonder what she is doing in Chicago?”.
We talked some more and then I walked to the elevator that goes to the lobby. I went to the lobby and walked through it to the elevator bank that takes you to you room.
As I turned the corner, I saw this same group of people huddling and then elevator arrived the door opened and we all walked in.
So now it is me, a younger woman, an older woman and 3 body guard types in the elevator.
I press my button.12th floor.
The elevator heads up.
I turn to the side to look for a moment to see this huddled group of people. It is Britney Spears. She is wearing a hoody sweat shirt and sweat pants.
It is a bit uncomfortable; uncomfortable silence. I eventually say “Hello Britney – excuse me for saying this but I own the Verizon Center in DC. You played a concert there last month and my family enjoyed the show very much – thank you”.
I immediately feel like a geek for saying a word.
Britney doesn’t respond. Doesn’t acknowledge that something has been said – doesn’t move – doesn’t say anything. Has a blank stare on her face. She is far away. A body guard slowly moves right in front of me; is at eye level with me and doesn’t say a word. Just stands right in front of me. Passive. But he is there. Silent. Looking into my eyes.
My floor is reached 10 seconds later. I step outside and the elevator continues upward.
I walk off and laugh to myself.
And think. “Yikes”. THAT was weird.
She’s so happy & free to live her life accordingly. The conservatorship is just in name! This story really confirms it. Don’t you think? Nah, he’s probably just lying. Right?
A judge won’t give a company suing Britney Spears access to her medical information.
The pop star is still under court-ordered conservatorship after a bout of erratic behavior in 2008. Her father and attorneys control her personal and financial affairs.
Because of the conservatorship, she will not be required to give a deposition in the lawsuit from the company Brand Sense, which claims it helped negotiate a perfume deal for Spears but was cut out of the profits.
Brand Sense wanted to see medical records proving Spears couldn’t testify. But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz ruled Tuesday that Brand Sense Partners has no standing to see medical records.
This isn’t a surprise; Reva Goetz is determined to keep Britney trapped in this conservatorship for the rest of her life. What Brand Sense has to do now is to keep this moving and hope to God that a higher court — with a sane judge — will see things differently. This is Britney’s only hope for freedom in the short-term. I hope — and anticipate — that Brand Sense won’t back down.
Fantastic news from Radar Online: we can expect the conservatorship to end in early 2012:
“After Britney’s tour concludes, which will be at the end of this year, her doctors and advisers are going to meet and confer about how much longer the conservatorship should go on for,” the source tells RadarOnline.com.
“There is a very good chance that a decision could be made to pull the plug in early 2012.
“It’s likely that Britney’s business affairs will still remain under control of the conservatorship though, even if they determine that she no longer needs it for herself personally. The idea is that this will be a gradual transition for Britney to return to her life, on her own.”
At last!
Except…oops. There’s this little thing called Google that can be used to check a publication’s track record.
From October 2010: “EXCLUSIVE: Britney Spears’ Conservatorship Ending”:
Britney Spears’ conservatorship is coming to an end, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
The conservatorship held over the pop star will most likely end within three months, a source close to the situation revealed exclusively to RadarOnline.com.
…
It will be the judge’s decision if and when to end the conservatorship and while Judge Goetz is carefully considering all the facts, the source said the singer should expect the conservatorship to end in three months.
As demonstrated in our below post, Radar Online seems to be Team Conservatorship’s propaganda outlet of choice. I’m sure in early 2012, we’ll get a piece about how the conservatorship will surely end in the summer — with a liberal dose of information about how much Britney loves her father more than life itself.
How funny. A week after FreeBritney.com goes live and the fan community has been reminded of how Britney has been stripped of her rights, a conveniently-timed article pops up on Radar Online about an “insider” who informs us that Britney loves the conservatorship and has nothing but positive thoughts about her father’s control over her life:
Britney Spears’ triumphant return to receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard award at the MTV VMAs on Sunday night was bittersweet for the pop star, who has credited her father, Jamie Spears, with saving her life, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.
Jamie became Britney’s conservator almost three years ago, after a series of very public meltdowns by his troubled daughter, who has since turned her life around and is back on track and back on top.
“Britney now recognizes that if her father hadn’t stepped in and taken the action that he had, well…. Britney is now crediting Jamie for saving her life,” an insider tells RadarOnline.com. “Britney is on top of the world right now. She is getting ready for the next leg of her world tour, which will be on September 22 in Moscow. Her father will be with her for some of the European performances, along with her mom.
“Britney’s relationship with her dad is in a very, very good place now. She was extremely emotional backstage before leaving for the VMAs and kept telling her daddy how much she loves him.”
It’s interesting, of course, that they can’t get her to say anything like this for the camera. Britney had every opportunity to thank her father in front of the camera when she won her Best Pop Video award the other night — instead, she chose to thank only her boyfriend, her children, and her fans. Why do we have to rely on “insider reports” to know that Britney gushes over her father?
Britney herself has spoken publicly about the conservatorship once — and she likened it to a prison. (Also see FreeBritney’s FAQ: “Hasn’t the conservatorship been good for her?” and “What if Britney likes the conservatorship?”)
